Smile is a song, originally used as an instrumental theme in the soundtrack for the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. Chaplin composed the music. While some believe the words were written by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons, the sheet music was sold with the lyrics accredited to Chaplin. In the lyrics, the singer is telling the listener to cheer up and that there is always a bright tomorrow, just as long as they smile. "Smile" has become a popular standard since its original use in Chaplin's film. The song was originally sung by Nat King Cole, charted in 1954.
Wikipedia

Smile, though your heart is aching, Smile, even though it's breaking. When there are clouds in the sky - you'll get by. If you smile through your fear and sorrow, Smile and maybe tomorrow, you'll see the sun come shining through for you. Light up your face with gladness, hide every trace of sadness. Although a tear may be ever so near, that's the time you must keep on trying, smile, what's the use of crying? You'll find that life is still worthwhile, if you just smile.
